Racing returns to Rainbow

-

Off-road racing enthusiasts are preparing to head to the southern Mallee town of Rainbow for the Rainbow Rises 240 on March 12 and 13.

Rainbow Rises 240, hosted by Victorian Off Road Racing Association, is a two-day shortcourse event based one kilometre west of Rainbow on Rainbow Rises Road.

The event format involves heats and sections across a 243.6-kilometre course across five sections for Motorsport Australia Victorian Off Road Championship competitors and 130.5km in three sections for Victorian Off Road Club Shield entries.

Rainbow Rises Events Association has worked to improve and maintain the track site with Rainbow community and businesses. Graincorp, Hindmarsh Shire Council and IGA are major sponsors.

Rainbow Rises 240 is also a lead-up and support event for other major Rainbow events – the opening round of ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championships from April 1 to 3 and round five of BF Goodrich Motorsport Australian Off Road championships from September 2 to 4.

Organisers have arranged catering at the track during the weekend and reminded patrons that camping is not permitted at the track or in a ‘paddock’ area, but available at nearby Rainbow Recreation Reserve.

A camping fee of $20 per person for the weekend applies. Children under 16 can stay free of charge.

Other accommodation is listed on the accommodation guide on offroadracing.com.au in the events page for the Rainbow Rises 240.

Under COVID-19 conditions some event stakeholders require mandatory vaccination to enter the grounds.

Animals are strictly prohibited.
