Encephalitis in Northern Grampians
Agriculture Victoria has confirmed positive detection of Japanese encephalitis virus at four new Victorian piggeries, including one in Northern Grampians Shire.
The other detections were in Campaspe, Loddon and Gannawarra shires.
Late yesterday, authorities were unable to disclose where the Northern Grampians detection had occurred. Mosquitoes feeding on infected animals spread the virus, which does not usually spread directly from animal to animal.
