Drew storms home to victory at Stawell

-

A true autumn day confronted Stawell Amateur Athletics Club cross country runners for the Stephen Baird Handicap.

Drew Christian claimed victory in a fast time of 23:31 on the Bonnie Dundee five kilometre loop, ahead of Claire Davies and Peter Hilbig.

It was Christian’s second Stawell

Amateur Athletics Club, SAAC, win from two seasons of running.

He enjoys the fitness, familyfriendly club and wellbeing benefits of running.

Christian has a bigger goal of completing the Melbourne marathon in October.

Nathan Baker was the fastest male and Jess Maffescioni the fastest female on the day.

Hunter Davies ran well to claim the win ahead of Claire Christian and Eva Harrison.

Nash Santuccione was the fastest runner in the sub-juniors.

The next SAAC race is the S and K Watson Handicap on Saturday. Registration is at the club rooms from 9.30am for a 10am start.

There will be a ‘50K in May’ fundraiser at the club rooms after the race to raise money for the fight against MS.
