Eagles and Tatyoon remain undefeated

- BY JONATHAN BOX

Ararat Eagles and Tatyoon remain undefeated after four rounds of Mininera and District Football League action.

Ararat recorded a good win over previously undefeated Lismore-Derrinallum on Saturday.

The Eagles led the Demons at every change throughout the day and were able to hold off one last push from Lismore-Derrinallum in the final quarter to come out victorious to the tune of four goals.

Naish Mcroberts and Jaydo Wright once again proved their worth as a force in the midfield, while the return of Brent Bulger saw him kick five majors.

Ararat will be looking at a somewhat easier round this week when it hosts Hawkesdale-macarthur, which has only had one win for the season over a struggling Moyston-willaura.

Tatyoon, coming off a 15-goal win over Wickliffe-lake Bolac, will this week take on Woorndoo-mortlake.

Tatyoon showed its class and dominance against the Magpies, outscoring them in every quarter, and with players such as Will Henderson, Joshua Brown and Sean Mcdougall once again stepping up to the plate it is easy to see why.

Although Woorndoo-mortlake has not had the start to the season it has in previous years, the side is still a well-drilled force that will be tough to beat.

Sam Gervasoni, Damien Pemberton and William Paulin were the better players for the Tigers last week and will need to step up once again in what will no doubt be a good contest on Saturday.

SMW Rovers this week travel to take on Wickliffe-lake Bolac.

Both teams are sitting on two wins for the season and will both be fighting hard for the four points to get a leg up on the other this week. Thomas Thewlis, Joe O’donnell and Rob Chapman have all been finding plenty of the ball for the Bulldogs, while Samuel Mckew, Will Cameron and Samuel Handley have all been the better players for the Magpies.

This could prove to be a big match for both teams to set up their early position on the ladder.

In other games around the league, winless Caramut hosts Penshurst, Great Western will play Lismore-derrinallum and Moyston-willaura is still searching for its first win for the season and will travel to Dunkeld to take on Glenthompson-dunkeld.
