Wide divide in Mininera

-

Ladder leaders Ararat Eagles, Tatyoon and Lismore-derrinallum have set themselves apart again in Mininera and District Football League, with some big wins in round 14.

The undefeated Ararat Eagles continued their winning streak against the winless Moyston-willaura, with a final margin of 244 points.

Jaydo Wright, with eight goals to his name, and Nick Dunford were standouts for the Eagles.

Tatyoon restricted Caramut to three goals and had a smooth run to the final siren to win by 101 points.

Andrew Maconachie and Mathew

Smith were crucial in the Hawks’ win. Lismore-derrinallum was another powerhouse coming into the final rounds of the season, defeating Hawkesdale-macarthur by 253 points.

Michael Lockyer was leading goal kicker for Lismore-derrinallum with 18 goals. Lachlan Isbister and Beau Ketchen were strong contenders, with Hawkesdale-macarthur unable to shut them down.

Penshurst also had a big win, with Great Western finding it a challenge to combat the Bombers’ strength.

Jayden Watson was key for Penshurst and was well supported by Henry Bensch, who kicked seven goals.

Glenthompson-dunkeld was too strong for SMW Rovers and with an early lead, built up to a considerable win.

Matt Lowe and Alexander Richardson displayed strong performances for Glenthompson-dunkeld.

The closest game of the round was between Woorndoo-mortlake and Wickliffe-lake Bolac, with the Tigers winning by 48 points.

William Paulin and Matthew Pemberton were best players for the Tigers and worked hard all game.

With two rounds to go before finals, the top teams are gearing up to continue some fine form into the most important games of the year.

In round 15, Ararat Eagles will be challenged by third-placed Lismorederrinallum, but after a solid season so far are unlikely to see defeat.

Tatyoon will be looking to keep its ladder position at second when it takes on Wickliffe-lake Bolac.

Woorndoo-mortlake is likely to see another week of success when it faces Hawkesdale-macarthur.

Glenthompson-dunkeld and Penshurst will have a fight on their hands, and it will be a solid game of football for the teams to rise to the challenge ahead of the finals series.

Great Western and Moyston-willaura will be hoping for a closer game in round 15, while SMW Rovers are likely to have a win over Caramut.
