$14.5m ploughed into grain stud­ies

WA’s grains in­dus­try is set to be­come even more prof­itable, af­ter a $14.5 mil­lion cash in­jec­tion aimed at im­prov­ing soils and boost­ing crop nu­tri­tion.

Fed­eral Agri­cul­ture Min­is­ter David Lit­tleproud and Grains Re­search and De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion chair­man John Woods un­veiled the fund­ing and projects in Perth on Mon­day, mark­ing the firstof-their-kind col­lab­o­ra­tions be­tween in­dus­try, gov­ern­ment and univer­si­ties.

GRDC is chip­ping in $8.3 mil­lion, funded by grower levies matched by the Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment.

A $9.7 mil­lion project to ex­am­ine nutri­ent use by crops will be led by the Univer­sity of WA and Mur­doch Univer­sity. Jenne Bram­mer
