A teenage girl needed 10 stitches after a Wobbegong shark bit her on the left foot while she was swimming at North Cottesloe beach yesterday morning.
Isabella Brett-Jensen, 15, told Ten News she was swimming with a friend about 11.30am when she felt something heavy and painful hit her foot.
“I thought a heavy sharp rock had been dumped onto my leg and it just wouldn’t seem to go away — the weight,” she said.
Instead a shark about 1m long had latched on to her foot.
She was able to shake it off but it left deep cuts to her left foot that needed 10 stitches.
