Min­is­ter’s emis­sions pep talk

En­ergy Min­is­ter An­gus Tay­lor says it is time to talk up Aus­tralia’s con­tri­bu­tion to re­duc­ing global emis­sions “rather than beat­ing our­selves up for not do­ing more”.

In a ma­jor speech to the En­ergy Week con­fer­ence in Mel­bourne today, Mr Tay­lor will say that while liq­ue­fied nat­u­ral gas may be con­tribut­ing to a rise in lo­cal green­house gas emis­sions, it is also re­duc­ing global emis­sions be­cause Asian na­tions that buy LNG are burn­ing less coal.
