Minister’s emissions pep talk
Energy Minister Angus Taylor says it is time to talk up Australia’s contribution to reducing global emissions “rather than beating ourselves up for not doing more”.
In a major speech to the Energy Week conference in Melbourne today, Mr Taylor will say that while liquefied natural gas may be contributing to a rise in local greenhouse gas emissions, it is also reducing global emissions because Asian nations that buy LNG are burning less coal.
