Summer Bay has a new stunner about to join its ranks. Brunette bombshell Emily Weir is about to make her debut on Home and Away this month in what will be her first major TV role. Joining the series as the fierce and mysterious newcomer Mackenzie, who steps in as the new owner of local restaurant Salt, Weir said she was thrilled to be a part of Seven’s popular weekday soap. “I know people say it all the time but there’s something about the entire Home and Away organisation,” she told New Idea. “It really is such a fantastic place to work and there’s a real sense of family.” Brisbane-born Weir, who studied acting at the Queensland University of Technology before relocating to Sydney more than three years ago, said her family could not be happier about her new TV gig. “They couldn’t believe it,” she said. “Hopefully I’ll be able to get them into the studio soon and they can meet some of the cast.” Asked about her relationship status, Weir confirmed she’s still single. “It’s just me, and that’s actually been sort of perfect at this stage of my life,” she said.
