Eve out despite Logie chances

The West Australian - - TODAY -

Eve Morey will likely not return to acting, despite being nominated for a Gold Logie. The 36-year-old former Neighbours star was shocked when she was announced last month as one of seven nominees for the coveted most popular personality award.

She also earned a nomination for most popular actress, with the winners to be announced on the Gold Coast on June 30.

It came after Morey’s character, Sonya Rebecchi, died after a battle with ovarian cancer on Neighbours this year after a decade on screen, and her co-stars launched a campaign to get her nominated for a Logie.

Having finished with the soapie, Morey stepped away from acting to be at home with her husband — fellow Neighbours actor Jonathan Dutton – and their two young children.

“It really for me feels like it’s

come out of nowhere,” Morey said. “I’ve been doing a bit of drama coaching, being at home, doing a bit of work with husband on his company.

“I’m not even on the radar.” Morey said her Gold Logie nomination would likely not entice her to return to acting but would instead be the perfect way to cap off her Neighbours experience.

“I want to stay in Australia,” she revealed.

“My thought was moving away from acting and getting more into coaching.

“And I wanted to do stuff around intimacy co-ordination and things like that.

“I really just want to tell good stories.

“If opportunities came up that were issue-based stories that were trying to say something of purpose, then that’s amazing, but I’m also happy to step away and be with my kids and work on some other things.”

‘It’s come out of nowhere . . . I’m not even on the radar.’

Former Neighbours star Eve Morey has ruled out a return to acting.
