The Western Star - - NEWS OPINION -

THIS week on our Facebook we posted a story about young job seeker’s struggles to find work in the southwest. Here is what you had to say:

JILL MACDONALD: Add to that the older age groups and it looks pretty grim in the bush MICHAEL PERKINS: Finding a job is one challenge but dodging a job is no walk in the park either. I’ve tried it at work with limited success.

PATTY DEWHURST: The struggle for small business to employ is real. So many employees want to be paid but not give much of themselves for that pay. We had apprentices back in 2013 and they cost us a lot of money with the mistakes they made (some were 3rd year apprentices), the number of days they take off, the length of meal breaks, time they arrive for work, not to mention all the time the employer has to pay for them to attend TAFE, time that the employer is not making anything from employing them.
