for Ayrshires has transcended generations for one Shady Creek family.

Anthea Day has always loved the breed and now her son Jake Mathews has followed in her footsteps.

“I love showing and I love Ayrshires,” she said.

“My son, when he was younger he wasn’t into sport, so I would take him to the youth show... he would show his Ayrshires all over the place.

“We would be all over the state with his cows and we were lucky enough when he was really interested there were a couple of good studs that dispersed and we picked-up some pretty handy cows to have some fun with in the show ring.”

Jake has had success recently with his Bluegum Park Ayrshires, about 100 registered animals.

Last year Rockvale Burdette Prim was the first Ayrshire to take out an International Dairy Week title, winning the champion interbreed sash.
