A BLAST FROM PAST
WHAT do fluoro tights, Abba’s greatest hits and perms all have in common?
They were all hits in the 1980s, of course.
The Endeavour Foundation hosted its first totally 1980s party at the cultural centre at the weekend, with guests invited to bring out their weird and wonderful outfits for the occasion.
There was no lack of bright colours, as more than 80 people filled the centre to rock out, 1980s style.
There were prizes for the best outfit on the night, with the Cooks’ flamboyant dressing style and Sam Cornelius’s ET costume hitting the right notes.
Many male attendees opted for electric coloured mohawks and bushy mullets, while the ladies sparkled in sequins, bows and tulle.
Some guests took direct inspiration from 1980s pop stars, with Cyndi Laupers and Abba look-a-likes mingling in the crowd.
Event organiser Juanita Jensen was thrilled with the turn-out.
“I’m very happy with the turn-ou, and people have gone over and above with their outfits– there was even an ET,” she said.
“Mandy, from Amanda’s Choice, has been a massive help –she made the playlist and helped with the decorations.
“My husband and I are heading off on the Endeavour Rally on June 15. We’re getting excited now.
“We’re hoping to raise more money for the foundation while on the road.”
