IF there were doubts about the endurance capabilities, the Spanish ACCIONA 100% EcoPowered rally car is making its way around the world toughing out some of the most challenging desert races.
In 2017, it became the first electric car to complete the Dakar Rally, and in the past few weeks has completed the Finke Desert Race near Alice Springs.
The electric car, has a 250kW synchronous electric motor equivalent to 340 horsepower, and is driven by eight fast-charging lithium battery modules plus a 100W solar panel.
It was able to complete 226km non-stop run on day 2 of the race.
The car was driven by two female motorsports experts: 10-time Dakar racer Andrea Peterhansel and Emma Clair, Baja’s TT world champion in quad. The pair partnered for the 2017 Baja Italia Rally.
