Social services coming to town
ACCESS to social services will be made easier for residents in the Maranoa when the Golden Wattle mobile service centre arrives in the region this month.
The 20-tonne truck, fitted out as a mobile Centrelink office, will be loaded up with Department of Human Services staff providing face-to-face service.
In addition to Centrelink services, the team on board will be handling Medicare and child support and are able to help residents navigate the DHS online services.
A social worker will also be on board to provide short-term counselling and referrals.
For those with questions about other social services, the staff can provide information about the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and other support.
