Kids en­joy an epic race day

FIRST-TIME race­goer Katie Red­dan had the time of her life call­ing the horse rac­ing from the top of the sand­pit cas­tle.

Roma Turf Club put on an ex­tra­or­di­nary day for the kids, with more than 300 peo­ple pass­ing through the gates at the Fil­lies and Fam­i­lies Race Day at Bas­sett Park on Satur­day.

There was all sorts of ac­tiv­i­ties to keep the younger ones en­ter­tained, in­clud­ing an in­flat­able fun-land, craft ac­tiv­i­ties, Lego, a mega sand­pit and face paint­ing.

Red­dan said it was the best day ever.

“My friends and I have been play­ing in the sand­pit all morn­ing,” she said.

“I love the horses so much. “It has been re­ally fun.” You know it’s a good day when Roma Turf Club an­nounces the day af­ter that many lit­tle peo­ple’s shoes and socks are wait­ing to be col­lected be­hind the bar.
