Fire and Water Festival fun
TWENTY years on, the Booringa Fire and Water Festival in Mitchell heaved with numbers stronger than ever at the weekend.
The last time a Fire and Water Festival ran was in 2011 and the Booringa Action Group decided it was time to revive the community fun weekend, bringing much relief to a town devastated by the drought.
With more than 400 people attending the two-day event, organiser Bree Jiggins said it was a tremendous weekend full of art, culture, food and fun.
“We are really happy with how things went,” Miss Jiggins said.
“The turnout was great and everything ran smoothly.”
Celebrating Mitchell’s unique history, she said the festival focused on the connection to the land and the wonderful things the district has to offer.
“On Friday we had more than 120 people attend the ‘let’s take a walk through time’ and three course dinner, which was a huge hit,” she said.
“We are very proud, we couldn’t have done it without all the sponsors.”
