Ag shows get $27K boost
SHOWTIME in the Maranoa is still many months away, but organisers have welcomed an early cash injection to make their local events bigger and better.
Roma, Wallumbilla and Mitchell Show Societies have all received state funding under the Show Societies Grants Program amounting to $27,822.
“We will be using our grant (of $7209) for upgrades to infrastructure at our showgrounds,” Wallumbilla Agricultural and Pastoral Association president Mark Swan said.
“There are a few things which definitely need fixing up before the next show, and we will be having a meeting in early October to decide exactly what it will go to.”
Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies general manager Trevor Beckingham welcomed the funding.
“In many cases, this funding is critical for societies to be able to conduct their show,” Mr Beckingham said.
“I’d like to thank the government for its ongoing support, helping to keep the gates open and put smiles on faces all over the state.”
THE MARANOA’S LOCAL SHOW SOCIETIES WILL RECEIVE:
■ Roma: $12,281
■ Mitchell: $8332
■ Wallumbilla: $7209
