Local businesses celebrated at annual Maranoa awards
GENEVIEVE Rogers attributes her staff, who have become family, and her loyal customers for her business success. The owner of ReX Coffee + Food, Ms Rogers and her fellow troops have been recognised for their stellar customer service and delicious food and coffee at the 2019 Maranoa Business Awards.
The awards were held at Explorers Inn on Saturday night, recognising local businesses and employees for their achievements and bringing pride into the business community.
“It’s very surreal – for me the customer service award was the most important one because it’s the customers who were nominating us,” Ms Rogers said. “I couldn’t do it without my staff. It sounds cliched, but we’re a family. I have the best team, they reflect exactly what I project and I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
MY ALARM GOES OFF AT 2.45M EVERY MORNING AND THERE’S NEVER BEEN A DAY WHERE I THINK ‘OH DAMN, I HAVE TO GO TO WORK’
WITH A passion for people, food and good coffee, Genevieve Rogers and her fellow ReX troops were recognised for the creativity, innovation and superb service their business brings to the Maranoa.
ReX Coffee + Food cleaned up at the 2019 Maranoa Business Awards, taking home medium business of the year, business customer service, tourism and hospitality and business of the year.
“It’s very surreal, for me the customer service award was the most important one because it’s the customers who were nominating us,” she said.
“I don’t think there can be a better feeling, than having the support of people you see every day.”
When entering ReX for Business of Year, Ms Rogers said she attributed five key elements to running a successful business which included customer service, her love of food, passion for coffee, pre ordering and her staff.
“I couldn’t do what I do without my staff. I’m having surgery on Monday and can’t be there for a week and if it wasn’t for them, the doors would be closed,” she said.
“It sounds cliche, but we’re a family. I have the best team, they reflect exactly what I project and I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
Gen ran a Roma express
coffee van for three years before she opened ReX’s doors in November 2017 – it has been bustling ever since.
“I’m so bloody passionate about what I do. My alarm goes off at 2.45am every morning and there’s never been a day where I think ‘Oh damn, I have to go to work’,” she said.
“I live my dream every day and I don’t feel lucky about that because it’s a lot of hard work, but I feel so grateful that I get to do that every day. That’s what makes it worth it.”
MILES OF SMILES: It takes a team and here they are, the women of ReX who helped boost the business to win medium business of the year and three other awards.
