ROMA ON TRACK FOR BIGGEST DAY OF THE YEAR
Roma’s biggest race is almost here
FOR THOSE in the racing industry, Roma Cup is by far one of the biggest and best days of the year. Whether it is the huge $75,000 prize purse up for grabs, or the high-stakes fashions on the field competition, the Cup shows off the best that Roma has to offer.
ROMA’S population is set to grow by the thousands this weekend with the biggest event of the year finally upon us.
Roma Turf Club has ensured the droves of punters arriving from across Queensland for the heart of western racing’s social calendar will have a weekend packed with things to see, do and enjoy.
From tonight’s calcutta at Royal on 99, to the Hall Chadwick Members Luncheon on Saturday morning, and the all-important Brisbane Riverview Hotel fashions on the field, there’s something for everyone. And that is before you even make it trackside, where the best horses in the west will battle it out in a thrilling spectacular for the ultimate prize: $42,700 and the last remaining place in the Country Cups Challenge final at Doomben, on November 30. “We want people to just enjoy themselves, so I am looking forward to seeing the crowd having a lot of fun, big fields out on the track, and the weather is looking really good – so I’m hopefully for a great day out at Basset Park,” Roma Turf Club president Brett Ashney said.
RACE READY: Jockey Daniel McGillivray, Cape Wickham, and trainer Scott Rogers are prepared for southwest Queensland’s biggest race day.
