FOR THOSE in the rac­ing in­dus­try, Roma Cup is by far one of the big­gest and best days of the year. Whether it is the huge $75,000 prize purse up for grabs, or the high-stakes fash­ions on the field com­pe­ti­tion, the Cup shows off the best that Roma has to of­fer.

ROMA’S pop­u­la­tion is set to grow by the thou­sands this week­end with the big­gest event of the year fi­nally upon us.

Roma Turf Club has en­sured the droves of pun­ters ar­riv­ing from across Queens­land for the heart of western rac­ing’s so­cial cal­en­dar will have a week­end packed with things to see, do and en­joy.

From tonight’s cal­cutta at Royal on 99, to the Hall Chad­wick Mem­bers Lun­cheon on Satur­day morn­ing, and the all-im­por­tant Bris­bane Riverview Hotel fash­ions on the field, there’s some­thing for ev­ery­one. And that is be­fore you even make it track­side, where the best horses in the west will bat­tle it out in a thrilling spec­tac­u­lar for the ul­ti­mate prize: $42,700 and the last re­main­ing place in the Coun­try Cups Chal­lenge fi­nal at Doomben, on Novem­ber 30. “We want peo­ple to just en­joy them­selves, so I am look­ing for­ward to see­ing the crowd hav­ing a lot of fun, big fields out on the track, and the weather is look­ing re­ally good – so I’m hope­fully for a great day out at Bas­set Park,” Roma Turf Club pres­i­dent Brett Ash­ney said.
