Students look back and reflect on the year that was
THROUGHOUT the year, St John’s School has taken part in a multitude of activities and programs ensuring our students receive a quality education in an environment of support, guidance and challenge.
During the year, students and staff have continued with our social justice programs.
This year it has included visits to Pinaroo, Endeavour and the Vincentian Village.
These occasions give the students the opportunity to feel connected to the mission of the church and the residents and clients a chance to interact with the young people in their community.
Being of service to others in need in the community is one of the most valuable learning experiences that any young person can have during their time at the school. Academia
Our school has excelled across many academic fields.
We have continued to develop our phonological awareness and reading intervention program, which has seen fantastic improvements in all students.
This was reflected in our improved school-wide NAPLAN
results; these have continued to improve as we have rolled out this program for the secondary school.
Our Year 12 students from 2018 received outstanding results with students following their own particular pathway on their educational journey.
Further afield, we shone with the maths Team Challenge and achieved excellent results at the Opti-MINDS
Students at St John’s have excelled in a variety of sporting endeavours.
From equestrian, tennis, football and basketball to individual the sports such as athletics and swimming, students have competed and displayed grit and determination. Well done everyone. Religious Life
Formed in the ethos of Catherine McAuley and the Sisters of Mercy, St John’s School is a Catholic school which places emphasis on compassion, respect, justice and excellence (the values of the Spirit of St John’s).
The school theme throughout 2019 has been ‘You Belong Here’. Students have embraced this theme and embedded it into their everyday life.
