Garage gives to preserve Roma history
THE Up The Creek Garage has switched on its ignition and rolled into gear.
Owner Robert Burton was at the wheel on Monday, as he handed over the proceeds from the garage’s grand opening to to Mark Edwards of The Roma Historical Precincts.
The opening day, which was held on Saturday, March 24, raised a total of $300 for the historical precinct.
Up The Creek Garage is an exhibition of cars and the Burtons’ road trip stories, with visitors to the garage also encouraged to meet the family’s pet longhorn cattle, Jack and Tex.
“Our collection of cars started around 30 years ago, with a Mustang, and it grew from there,” Mr Burton said.
“So last year we decided to put together the garage and organise our vehicles.
“Part of the exhibition also commemorates the Australian car industry, which finished last year.”
The Burtons are active supporters of the development of the Roma historical precinct as it comes to fruition.
The garage holds many relics and allows families to learn about the car industry.
