Melbourne Central Art Loop
Melbourne Central’s exhibition space allows you look at art while waiting for your train.
The Melbourne Central Art Loop makes train travel a little less dreary with its 15 LCD screens and five video portals screening video artworks. Although the phone reception issues in the City Loop have been resolved a few months ago, the new art installation adds a little something extra to your daily commute. The inaugural show, which continues until July, is curated by Andy Dinan, director of MARS Gallery in Windsor, and includes short video works by more than 30 artists including Emily Yuting Chen, Diego Ramirez, Erin Coates, James Base, Shaun Wilson and many more. The Melbourne Central Art Loop is a permanent display and is the largest permanent installation of video art outside of a gallery space in Australia. So keep an eye out the next time you get on that Lilydale or Pakenham line.
