The Break Room

The concept

Harness your inner hooligan, smash the shit out of stuff with a baseball bat and feel the tension drop away.

The experience

We suit up in coveralls, gloves, and a welder’s mask before entering the purpose-built Break Room. There’s a reinforced window on one side for your mates to watch you while you lose your rag. I’m given a baseball bat and a milk crate full of unwanted glassware and crockery and left to go nuts. The only things I’m not allowed to wreck are myself and the milk crate. Soundtrack: AC/DC.

I felt guilty about breaking perfectly good homewares and paying nigh on 100 bucks for the privilege. My partner had no such compunction – he roared in with a battle cry (“Fuck you Port Melbourne!”) and came out sweaty and satisfied. MC
