ÁTHE FIELD REVISITED

Fifty years ago the National Gallery of Victoria opened its St Kilda Road building with a contentiou­s exhibition. The Field featured 40 emerging Australian artists working at the cutting edge of contempora­ry art. To celebrate its anniversar­y, the NGV has recreated this exhibition featuring the work of Sydney Ball, Peter Booth and Janet Dawson. THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME

Buxton Contempora­ry is Melbourne’s newest major gallery, designed by the architects behind Hobart’s MONA and showcasing property mogul Michael Buxton’s collection. MYURAN SUKUMARAN: ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE

This deeply affecting exhibition shows extraordin­ary paintings created by the convicted drug smuggler during his incarcerat­ion at Bali’s Kerobokan Prison and in the final 72 hours before his execution.
