Twenty emerging artists in their twenties are selling their wares at a new one-off craft market at Kinokuniya

You might have come across Kylie Walsh before. She’s the key curator of WorkShop’s Makery store on Oxford Street. It’s her job to keep an eye out for young creative people in Sydney and invite them to showcase their wares at the shop, so it comes as no surprise the bookstore Kinokuniya has invited her to curate a marketplace for them too. Walsh says it was a meeting of passionate minds, each wanting to give a platform to local makers and creators from that age bracket. “I have been completely floored by their creativity and professionalism,” says Walsh.

think, damn, you’re only in your twenties?”

“I just think, damn, you’re only in your twenties? It’s so impressive.” The 20 crafty young guns will be setting up shop in the middle of the store, showing off various arts and crafts, from 3D printing to macramé. All of the sellers are from New South Wales. There’s Cleanse with Benefits, who produce luxury soaps and skincare that’s vegan and kind to the skin. The Assembly creates copper desk lamps, beech wood bowls and hand-sewn linen napkins. “And Brewster Magazine,” says Walsh. “It’s a 3D magazine. They bring new life to print that’s out of copyright, in a new medium. You get 3D glasses to go with them, too. Aside from the fact that they have their shit together, they’re just really lovely people. So it’s great to support these emerging makers.” Emma Joyce
