There’s only one engine in the new Santa Fe – the 2.2 diesel. It does the job, but should be smoother and quieter at low speeds.

It’s a large, versatile car. Look on it as a budget Volvo XC90, not that it’s that cheap – prices start at £33,425. Lots of kit is included.

This is the spec to have it in, though: automatic gearbox and 4WD. Makes this a very usable, capable machine. Hybrid needed soon, though.

It’s plain inside, and plain to drive. Not much to feel good about, but it’s still a quietly satisfying car to own. A workhorse.
