What should I know?

It’s basically a 50bhp-odd morepowerful S350d, with the same great straight-six that’s as quiet and smooth a diesel as we’ve ever driven.

Should I care?

Oh yes. S-Classes are tremendous things however they’re powered, but this engine is a perfect match for its character. It also makes the S-Class needlessly, pointlessly fast, with 0–62mph taking just 5.4 seconds. Best thing? You can also get this motor in an E-Class Estate.
