NISSAN GT-R

-

Rumours about the next Nissan GT-R started as soon as the R35 came out – and it was released in 2007. So far, we’ve had every flavour of speculation, not helped by deliberate vagueness from Nissan itself. Nissan guru Hiroshi Tamura recently told TG that the R36 was still in the feasibility study phase, but that all avenues had been, or were being, considered. From all-electric to hybrid to even just an engine. Most likely seems to be some sort of über hybrid, with an engine driving the rear wheels and an electric motor to drive the fronts, giving the requisite all-wheel drive, although another rumour suggests that a modified version of the current 3.8-litre bi-turbo might be all the GT-R will require. Quite how Nissan will get around emissions regulations globally, we’re not sure. Whatever happens, we’re hoping that the next GT-R is a mash-up of the Vision GT and the Italdesign GT-R50.
