MY DESERT ISLAND MOVIE

JAWS is a perfect one. The island would give it a little edge, with you being surrounded by water. I actually think Jaws is the most perfect movie ever made. I think you could show it to an Eskimo or somebody five hundred years ago in the Middle East – everybody gets this story of a predator that is picking off people and three men have to come together and go and face it. You wouldn’t change a frame of Jaws.

THE MOVIE THAT EVERYONE LOVES BUT I HATE

I really hate the BOURNE movies. We talked about this when

Kingsman was coming out: the idea of a spy movie that doesn’t make you want to be a spy. It’s incredible. I can’t remember anything that happened, except a lot of fast-cut fights. I had no idea what it was about. Everybody was raving about them and I used to walk out of the cinemas just looking perplexed.

MY FAVOURITE COMIC-BOOK MOVIE

It has to be SUPERMAN: THE

MOVIE. I saw it at the perfect age, in between Star Wars and Indiana

Jones. This was my coming-ofage. I went to see it and it was a career choice. I wanted to either be a superhero or do a job that involves superheroes. Meeting [ director] Richard Donner a few years back was like meeting Jesus. That movie is the thing that defined the rest of my life.

THE MOVIE THAT SCARES ME THE MOST

Definitely HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER. I went to see it in an arthouse cinema – pretty much a packed house. There were a third of the people left by the end; even I left in the last five minutes. I was completely freaked out. It was a relentless pummelling. It was a fantastic movie, but I had to go and see Little Man Tate immediately afterwards to try to wash my brain.

THE FIRST MOVIE I EVER SAW

MARY POPPINS. It was rereleased in about 1973, when I was 3, and I went with my brother. I later found my brother pimped me out. This couple said, ‘It’s not the same watching a Disney film without a kid so will your little brother come and sit with us?’ My brother said, ‘Yes, for 50 pence!’ So I went and sat with this couple. I remember H really enjoying it, so I’m guessing there was no actual touching!

THE REMAKE I’D LIKE TO SEE

I think it would be quite fun to remake STAR WARS! I’d want to be on the internet the day that is announced! You know it would be Shia LaBeouf as Han Solo and Miley Cyrus as Princess Leia. Somebody is going to think about this now! Shia’s waiting and it’s going to happen. JM ETA | 8 JUNE Kingsman: The Secret Service is available to buy on Digital HD, Blu-ray and DVD now.
