Double impact

-

Tom Hardy deserves to be shortlisted for a Bafta, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for his convincing portrayal of Ronnie and Reggie Kray in Legend. He brings to the screen a powerful performance overshadowing that of Gary and Martin Kemp in The Krays – a teddy bears’ picnic

in comparison. Legend is one of the most violent biopics of 2015, an unmissable drama that pulls no punches and a must-see gangster flick. JENNY BEESON, GREAT YARMOUTH Given that it seems every movie now has to belong to some extended universe, how about a lovely Legend/Bronson crossover? A sequel of sorts, it follows the Kray twins in jail where they meet and compare bruised knuckles with Charlie over cups of tea. Mr Hardy should reprise his role as Bronson to play all three. Make it happen, Tommy! Failing that, how about a Krays’ origin story which takes us back to their early childhood? We’ve seen the punch-ups and slaughter. Now it’s time for tantrums over who had less peas on his plate and a montage built around the discovery of their twin telepathy. ZOE E WHITE, VIA EMAIL The pitch we’re hawking around Hollywood is a Kemp bros biopic with Tom Hardy playing Gary and Martin playing the Kray twins and, why not, the rest of Spandau Ballet too. It’ll make your head feel like the corridor in Inception. Awards recognition does seem likely for Mr Hardy’s double whammy – but if he wins, will he thank himself? Will he accept as one twin, or go full Gollum and toggle between the two? Good luck to any orchestra tasked with cutting that speech short…
