STORM REID

- Meet Meg Murry…

How would you describe Meg?

A lot of people can relate to Meg in many ways. I think people go through situations in their life where they might not think they’re the best at something, or they might think they’re worthless at times. And then, me and Meg are two different girls trying to figure out what we’re trying to do with our lives, who we want to be, and who we want to surround ourselves by. So I think other teenagers can kind of relate to Meg in that way as well.

How was it working with Ava DuVernay?

I feel like Miss Ava is such a powerful force and presence, not only with directing but with every aspect of life. She’s very hands-on with everything she does. So no matter whether she needs to do hair, make-up, crafting – she’s going to do it to be able to make this film the best film that it can be, no matter what.

You call yourself a ‘future filmmaker’ on Instagram…

Of course, that takes time, and I would love to become older and maybe shadow Miss Ava and shadow other directors. But I would love to make my own film one day. I love sci-fi. I love dramas. I kind of like a mix of everything. So if I can make an action movie slash dramedy slash romance type thing, I think that would be my directorial debut.

You have a horror film up next…

Only You is a Blumhouse film that I did with Mr. David Oyelowo, directed by Jacob Estes. It’s so cool. It’s something that I’ve never done before. It’s kind of like a psychologicalthriller scary movie. So that’s going to be really fun and exciting to see, and I can’t wait for that to come out later this year. MM
