GLASGOW FILM FESTIVAL | Four highlights from this year’s fest…
ISLE OF DOGS
Wes Anderson is a Glasgow Film Festival staple (The Grand Budapest Hotel opened the fest in 2014) and his latest all-canine stop-motion animation Isle Of Dogs is this year’s prestigious Opening Gala. What more do you need to know other than Jeff Goldblum and Bill Murray voice dogs on a dystopian Japanese trash island?
DIE HArD 30TH ANNIVErSAry ScrEENINGS
Presented in association with Total Film, and introduced by TF’s editor-at-large Jamie Graham, these extra-special anniversary screenings of John McTiernan’s action classic Die Hard will see the 13th floor of the former College of Building and Printing transformed into Nakatomi Plaza where you can explore themed areas, sip a Die Hard cocktail and more. Welcome to the party, pal!
THE PArTy’S JuST BEGINNING
As an Inverness native there was no better place for Jumanji/Guardians star Karen Gillan to premiere her directorial debut. Gillan also wrote and stars in the film as Lucy – a young woman who spirals into depression after the suicide of her best friend. Needless to say, the title is ironic.
MIcA LEVI IN cONcErT
With Under The Skin and Jackie, musician Mica Levi crafted two of the most idiosyncratic and impactful film scores in recent memory. Naturally, you won’t want to miss her latest project The Unfilmables, where she will perform a reimagining of Sergei Parajanov’s The Colour
