BRAGUINO

OUT 24 AUGUST

Total Film - - Big Screen -

Clément Cogitore’s 48-minute mini-doc splices ethnography with folk-horror stylings. Two families eke out livings in the Siberian taiga; a fence between them. Though this tense feud never erupts, Cogitore sustains suspense through half-lit images and a Blair Witch-y sound mix. With its de-romanticised take on rustic life lashed to a half-formed narrative, Braguino fascinates and frustrates equally. Kevin Harley
