Offering “11 tales of the city”, this compilation of shorts depicts a metropolis that is variously romantic (for two night-swimming strangers), hostile (to an Iranian seeking asylum) and magical (for a little girl who goes awol while her mum’s back is turned). Juliet Stevenson and Imogen Stubbs lend star power to other segments in a film whose components make for a diverting, if bitty, whole.
