Gerard Butler stars as Joe Glass, a submarine captain tasked with navigating foreign waters to save the Russian president from a coup. Co-starring Gary Oldman as a trigger-happy Pentagon bigwig, this patriotic action thriller may as well be called Olympus Has Sunken. Missile launches blend with camaraderie and a message of tolerance, but the script is submerged in clichés at least as old as the Cold War.
