Combining film footage with first-person exploration, this movie-length chiller is an impressive debut for Elijah Wood’s SpectreVision. Co-directed by Wood himself, the story hinges on tech (built by Macon Blair’s frazzled scientist) that allows users to inhabit another’s consciousness: in this case, three members of a family, whose home becomes a nightmare as technical hitches cause increasingly disturbing effects. It’s undoubtedly best experienced in VR, with its unsettling audio and perspective shifts. CS
