A summer writing class for bored French teens provides fertile ground for heated debates on race, religion and terrorism in Laurent Cantet’s (The Class) slow-burn thriller. It utilises the troubling relationship between Marina Foïs’ successful novelist and the most gifted of her students (a riveting Matthieu Lucci) to investigate the dangerous allure of right-wing propaganda to Europe’s disaffected youth.
