The latest happenings in movieland…
PARTING SHOTS
As Teasers went to press, the sad news broke of the passing of two of cinema’s greatest, most innovative directors: Nicolas Roeg (Don’t Look Now, The Man Who Fell To Earth) and Bernardo Bertolucci (The Conformist, The Last Emperor). RIP.
SPY GAMES
Chris Pratt is circling a new version of The Saint. Played by Roger Moore in the ’60s TV series, the titular antihero (aka Simon Templar) uses his charm and disguises to take down corrupt politicians.
WORLD PEACE OF MIND
Greg Kinnear, Lesley Manville, Keeley Hawes and Rhys Ifans have joined leads Keira Knightley, Gugu Mbatha Raw and Jessie Buckley in Misbehaviour, based on the true story of the 1970 Miss World contest being disrupted by the Women’s Liberation Movement.
HEADS UP
With Venom topping the $800m mark to become the year’s second biggest superhero origin story (behind Black Panther), a sequel looks likely to land in 2020. Star Tom Hardy originally signed for three movies. Safe to say Carnage really is in the offing.
