It’s a shame that this monster TV offering from DC Universe was cancelled early on (reportedly for costing too much green) because it thrives as a dark thriller series squarely rooted in blood‘n’guts horror. Crystal Reed stars as Abby Arcane, a CDC doctor returning to her hometown to investigate mysteries surrounding the local swamp. While the show sometimes falls foul of generic slasher-flick values, cool effects and a heavy dose of comic mythology are enough to keep viewers fully immersed. Matt Looker
