NICE BUT NAUGHTY
So I read The Nice List, where you counted down the top 20 Christmas movies [TF305]. And well, I have a
question. Where was The Polar Express?! It’s a Christmas classic that tried an innovative new form of animation while balancing great songs and a heartwarming story. Tom Hanks does a great job as the Conductor – although he looks a little bit uncanny, I should reiterate, this was the early days of motion capture. Honestly, I wouldn’t have minded where it was ranked, but shocked not to see it at all. Seeing is believing, and I believe I’m disappointed by the absence of one of the great Christmas movies.

There I was, sitting comfortably reading The Nice List, when I made the shocking discovery that Santa Claus The Movie (1985) didn’t make the cut! How could you forget the loveable Dudley Moore as Patch, as well as one of the best-looking/convincing Santas… Good job I have the Blu-ray ordered! Merry Christmas, TF team!

And to you. We’re sorry if your festive fave didn’t make the list. ’Tis the season to be disappointed, so we don’t mind if you want to take us back to the shop (so long as you sign up for a subscription afterwards). If it’s any consolation, certain staff were also saddened (read: furious) by the noninclusion of Batman Returns (bloke bothering rooftops by night), Rocky IV (big guy in red, throbbing noses, lots of falling over) and Lethal Weapon (carnage). No no no!
