Is your character, Maya, more closely connected to either Godzilla or Kong?

I don’t know if she’s Team Kong or Team Godzilla. She’s neither. She’s Team Human. It reflects the reality of the world we’re living in a bit more. Not necessarily with monsters, but, you know, with men versus the world.

How did the scale of the visual effects on this film compare to anything you’ve done before?

Oh my God. It’s the most insane thing I’ve ever done. When I watched this, I was absolutely blown away. I don’t have any other way to say it. The movie is so visually pleasing. It’s something I honestly didn’t expect when I made the movie. I had an idea of what this movie was going to look like, but they really went overboard in the most beautiful way.

Did you see it on a big screen?

I did, luckily. But I went by myself, to see it at a screening in a movie theatre. It was really wild [laughs]. And I was so happy that I did. It was a bittersweet experience because I walked out of it obviously so excited, but also kind of sad, because a lot of people are not going to get the opportunity to see it like this. Hopefully people around the world get to go see it in movie theatres – if it’s safe, they can go in and watch it in a safe environment.

You’re currently filming Michael Bay’s Ambulance. What can we expect from that?

It’s a massive action movie, but it’s not as much an action movie as a Michael Bay movie usually is. It’s more of a character-study kind of film. It’s very intimate. It’s not like Transformers. It’s more of an intimate movie. And listen, it’s “the Bayhem”. It’s exactly what they say on the streets. It’s going to be a really fun movie. I hope people can take it. It’s an intense movie.
