Dealing with themes of grief and trauma, writer/director Cathy Brady’s feature debut focuses on the reunion of two sisters on the Irish border, with Kelly (Nika McGuigan) re-entering Lauren’s (Nora JaneNoone) life after vanishing for a year. Investigating how Brexit threatens to reopen the wounds of The Troubles – Kelly and Lauren lost their father to a terrorist attack, and their mother either committed suicide or was killed soon after – this is a potent, well-performed drama, albeit one with splashes of magical realism that don’t quite work.
