What’s your take on Claire Redfield?

She’s an absolute badass bitch! We start with Claire returning to Raccoon City, she was raised in the orphanage there with her brother, Chris. And she’s our eyes into one night where the shit hits the fan. Claire’s the only one that has inside knowledge of Umbrella, and what they’re doing. So she establishes herself as a leader.

How familiar were you with Resident Evil?

I knew the movies, definitely. I wasn’t as familiar with the games. I grew up with Crazy

Taxi and the Simpsons game, which I thought was fucking awesome. [Roberts] told me to play the game, so I bought a PlayStation, had a glass of wine, and very quickly realised how absolutely terrifying it was.

Crawl was a tough shoot. How did Resident Evil compare?

I don’t think anything will ever be as hellish as Crawl in my life, which I loved! I don’t want to be sitting in the trailer, having my make-up put on. I want to be out there, riding motorbikes, and climbing fences, and shooting shotguns. They wouldn’t let me ride the motorbike here, which pissed me off, but I completely understand because I don’t even have a driving licence. JF
