While this Exeter trio’s 2016 debut was chock-full of Academy-ready anthems, it could sometimes sound like a homage to their 90s and 00s alt-rock heroes. However, the same can’t be said for its blockbuster follow-up, which sees Manson MA and offset-toting frontman Mark Holley and co craft their own niche through sharply-focused songwriting, complete with orchestral flourishes and some truly gorgeous, shimmering chord tones – take a listen to ManicInMe and Sæla for prime examples of Holley’s vast multi-amp textures. This second offering from the trio should have fans of grunge, indie and emo alike worshipping at the Foxxes’ den.
