Reverence

The shades of 2015’s Ire made it a landmark for Parkway Drive, and that album’s myriad twists and tones are now consolidated on Reverence. Seemingly drenched in anguish, opener Wishing Well piques the Aussies’ metallic hardcore staple, while Chronos is elevated with colossal strings. Impassioned closer The Colour Of Leaving strips everything back to the vocal bones and the tribal ceremony of Cemetery Bloom offers another grand statement, yet with such an impressive expression it leaves only a few ragers in the likes of Absolute Power and the boisterous swagger of The Void to remind everyone of the tenacious metalcore band they’ve now outgrown.
