Total Guitar - - CHORDS MADE EASY -

Abig part of changing chords effectively is being efficient with your movement. Aim for quick shifts and make sure you’re not ‘resetting’ your hand by taking every finger off the neck. This bad habit leaves you having to reposition every finger on each subsequent shape, when a more efficient move would speed things along.

The chord change exercises here will show you what to look for. Shortcut or not, you should always try to anticipate every chord change. Start planning a few beats before it’s time to change by picturing where your fingers will go. If you really want to speed up your changes, drill them by quickly moving between chords. Strum each chord once, making sure each string rings clearly, then make your move and repeat until it feels easier.
