Gamechanger Au­dio, the en­ve­lope-push­ers re­spon­si­ble for the Plus sus­tain pedal, has fi­nally re­leased its lat­est of­fer­ing, the Plasma Pedal. We’ve never seen a stomp­box quite like this: rather than util­is­ing LEDS, tran­sis­tors or valves like most over­drives, the PP trans­forms your in­stru­ment’s live sig­nal into a se­ries of con­tin­u­ous high-volt­age dis­charges within a xenon-filled tube – in­cred­i­bly, these dis­charges are con­verted back into au­dio to pro­duce a re­spon­sive, heavy dis­tor­tion that prom­ises to stand apart from the crowd au­rally, as well as vis­ually. Cun­ningly, be­cause the pedal pro­duces no out­put sig­nal when the chain is bro­ken, it fea­tures a nat­u­ral noise gate when you’re not play­ing, too.
