Tremonti comes good on his vision of value

Total Guitar - - GEAR OF YEAR -

Ayear and a half before we ever saw it, Mark Tremonti surprised us with the admittance he’d used a prototype signature amp with PRS for most of his work on Alter Bridge’s Thelasthero album. Even more eyebrow-raising than the fact it was small 15-watt head was his talk of potential price. We nodded along in hope, secretly questioning if such an amp could surface on the market at the price point he was suggesting. But then it appeared at NAMM at the start of the year, and it was everything he said. And more…

We said: “The clean channel’s Fender-inspired high headroom is perfectly suited to effects – flipping this channel into boost mode adds a dose of extra gain that’s perfect for blues and classic rock crunch – while the lead channel utilises no less than five gain stages for one of the thickest, most massive distortion tones we’ve ever heard from any rock amp… if you play modern rock and metal, it’s like having all your Christmases at once.”
