WALRUS AUDIO R1
Not a week goes by without a highend reverb pedal trying to turn our heads with its bells, whistles and multi-functionality but Walrus has form for special. And after last year’s D1 Delay marking the debut of its Mako series with Analog Devices Sharc processor, the R1 has high expectations to meet.
Based on what we’ve heard, this High-fidelity Stereo Reverb could be a do-it-all pedal in its class for 2021.
There’s six reverb modes: Spring, Hall, Plate, BFR (Big F*cking Reverb), RFRCT (Refract), and Air. There’s a volume swell effect via the effect knob that can be applied to any of the programs. It also has the X control like the Slö and Fathom reverbs for a brace of added functionality like grit and subtle reverse delays. At £349 it’s a serious investment for sure – but if you want inspirational sounds with versatility, you may find the R1 is the one.
